Accessing Course Materials
About Modules
Many instructors use Modules to help organize and direct the flow of the course work, as we have in this orientation. Modules are designed to organize the materials in a course in a specific manner which the instructor has decided best suits their course. The work may be broken down by chapter, week, topic or type of materials. The use of Modules should help you, the student, find your way around the course.
Say for example your instructor breaks down the course by Chapter you will know which chapter you are working on and can see all materials related to the completion of that Chapter's completion..
Module Icons
Modules often contain one or more items shown in the image below. A description of the images follows.
Other Course Items
Aside from modules coursework may also be found in other menu items that may appear within your course including: files, assignments, quizzes, discussions, syllabus or pages
These are the areas in Canvas where all the "stuff" is stored. If your instructor has chosen to use Modules in your course you may not see these items in the Navigation Panel. However, some instructors choose to leave these Navigation options available to you and create Home Pages or Announcements to direct you to the location of the work due each week.
If you have these options available in your Navigation panel clicking the option will take you to that type of course content. If you are looking for Assignment 4 which needs to be finished by the end of the week, you would click Assignments and Assignment 4 would be on that content page. Clicking the link in the content page would take you to that specific assignment details.
