Hello!
My name is Chris Goebel, and I'm currently a full-time student at Santa Fe College.
My current paths of study are an A.S. in Network Security, and an alternate degree, an A.S. in Computer Information Technology. Cyber Security is my primary interest.
As of right now, I am currently on track to be finished with both of these by the end of 2017 and spring 2018, respectively. If the "best laid plans of mice and men" come to fruition, I will follow these with my B.S. in Information Technology right here at Santa Fe.
Amazingly enough, I chose this course of study early on, before the current global news of governmental eavesdropping, corporate digital espionage, and rampant criminal attacks on networks. So I am extremely excited to be on the ground floor as the field of Cyber Security explodes in the job market. I'm confident that there will be jobs, especially in the area of network security and personal privacy when I graduate.
A little about myself:
I have considerable experience in the fields of computers and electronics. From large-scale special purpose mainframes to business and home PC. I also have some years of experience in the fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair of general and special-purpose electronic equipment.
Though my current interests lie in network security, I can guarantee that my electronics and fault location experience will greatly enhance network troubleshooting when the inevitable malfunction arises. This will most definitely lessen the time to repair, reducing the impact of the failure. Being able to find the problem is the first step before you can fix the problem.
The purpose of this e-Portfolio is 1) A required grade in my Professional Development for IT class, and 2) A chance to showcase some of the highlights of my professional history, and to chronicle my journey through college on my path to becoming a knowledgeable IT Security professional.
So if you've read this far, thank you for checking out my page. I hope you find some of my accomplishments and schoolwork to be interesting and of value to my career path and possible job prospects.
