Sexual Violence Awareness Prevention Santa Fe College

Welcome to the Santa Fe College Sexual Violence Awareness & Prevention (SVAP) education program. This course outlines the importance of staying safe in and out of the classroom, both on and off campus.

Personal safety begins with knowing what constitutes sexual assault, how to prevent it, and what to do if you experience or observe it. All students are responsible for knowing and obeying college rules, state statutes, and federal laws regarding sexual violence.

Upon completion of of this course, you will be able to:

- Define and Report Sexual Violence in our Community
- Describe Consent and Communication in Sexual Relationships
- Acknowledge College Sexual Violence Policies and Interventions
- Exercise Safe, Positive Options for Bystander Intervention and Reporting
- Support Identity Awareness and Healthy Relationships
- Access Survivor Resources and Support

Content within this course may trigger traumatic or stressful memories. SF offers a counseling center with licensed mental health professionals who can speak with you at no cost. FOR STUDENTS WHO REGISTER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2016 AND LATER:
You ARE REQUIRED to complete this online training on sexual violence awareness and prevention. Complete the training during your FIRST semester at Santa Fe College in order to register for a second semester. Students only have to complete this training in its entirety once.

FOR STUDENTS WHO WERE REGISTERED FOR THE FIRST TIME PRIOR TO 2016:
You are NOT REQUIRED to complete this online training on sexual violence awareness and prevention. However, it is recommended for students because it contains important information on sexual assault and violence. If you choose NOT to complete the training, you may opt out of the course. Although not necessary, please use the contact information on Canvas if you would like to opt out.

All video elements are closed captioned for the hearing impaired. If you have any access barriers because of a disability, please contact the DRC at drc@sfcollege.edu or 352-395-4400.
