Someone who hopes to hold such a position is required not only to have an excellent familiarity with certain areas but is also expected to discharge his duties with greatest professionalism and reliability and accuracy.

Learn about Business Analysis -- Certainly, the first to becoming good at a job is to know exactly what the career is about and what it involves. As you go through your education, you have to build your knowledge about business analysis. However, if you're already a graduate, that doesn't mean you can't get proper knowledge about the discipline. There are books and online learning resources out there that can provide with you with enough information to get you started on this career.

Evaluate your skills -- Have a self-assessment of your skills and determine which of them are transferable. If, after evaluating yourself, you find out that there's a skills subset you have that qualifies you to be a Business Analyst, you can then enhance those skills to get prepped for the position. To do this, you can either get further education or do your own self-study and skills enrichment.

Get the word out -- If you think you're all set to fight the positioning, if you're already utilized for a company, you can start sending feelers to your manager or employer about your intent. If you're not employed yet, you can create a resume that's built around the position, beginning with your statement of objectives. You can also include relevant certification and training programs.

Have the mindset of a Business Analyst -- Once you're equipped with an acceptable familiarity with business analysis, you can then start putting into practice some of the things you've learned. You can start immersing yourself into BA work so you can get a feel of the position.
