For this assignment, we were asked to find a live streaming webinar, related to our field of study, and adequately summarize it. The webinar I picked was on a topic called 2017 Data Predictions on data Security, insights on important trends in security for the banking industry. They discussed the top 6 trends that will be coming for data security in 2017.

Here is my summary of the webinar with the webinar linked below:

I attended a Webinar on a topic called 2017 Data Predictions on data Security, insights on important trends in security for the banking industry. They discussed the top 6 trends that will be coming for data security in 2017. These trends are:

  1. Up and coming cyber security legislation that can really effect that way information is handled and transmitted. Already financial services get attacked 3x more than other industries, and with that number projected to rise, the cost for managing cyber security threats for banks will increase 40% by 2025.
  2. Loss of data is becoming an end user top of mind concern, will lot of users coming into the situation with te expectation of their data not being as secure as it could be. Companies will need to start looking into their third party vendors and companies and their security measures.
  3. Employees sharing information to people external to the operation is increasing, and this creates a huge risk
  4. Continued growth in IT complexity. Employees are using their personal devices to conduct corporate business. With a growing variety of sharing tools, its easy to share and be saved on multiple devices and systems.
  5. All these concerns are limiting the adaptation of contemporary collaboration solutions
  6. Infor security teams are making a concerted shit to data centric security solutions.

It is predicted that more cyber attacks will happen in 2017 than ever, and if we have a head start on knowing the trends, we can be prepared to counteract them.

I learned a lot from attending the webinar. It was insightful to be able to talk to them and ask questions as the presentation went along. I feel I probably did not ask enough questions. In the next webinar I attend I will be more prepared with questions. I would also like to be more prepared and ready to take notes.
